Sail Planet is a start up with big ambitions. Launched by the owner of Naleia Yachting, a sailing holidays specialist, the directors saw a gap in the market for an online portal to search for yacht charters across the globe and book online.
The search site already lists 13,274 Yachts in 61 countries. The simple interface connects sailors with boats in their favoured resort or port, and they can search by crewed, number of beds, motor or sailing yacht and size.
This cool brand is setting its sights on the International market, their goal is to build their network of boats and sailors and to become the number one search site for boat charter.
The Sail Planet team currently use a back-linking partner, so they had this covered. Their main challenge was in identifying the priority geographic markets to target based on search volume. That way they could plan out their time and they would understand where to concentrate their efforts first.
The team also needed confirmation that their idea was in demand from a search point of view. Were their customers typing in queries related to yacht charter in their destinations and ports?
We couldn’t wait to get started on this project, as it ticks all our boxes. Travel, holidays and sport – it’s been a while since we went sailing and, so we were looking forward to applying the experience we had in travel to this project too.
We conducted an initial SEO audit for Sail-Planet, which identified some areas on their new site for improvement. Next came the big task of keyword research in multiple countries and languages to understand the search landscape for yacht charter. We identified the US as Sail-Planet’s biggest potential market and, so we focused our keyword research in the geographic location first.
Sail Planet are now implementing the Content plan and SEO strategy that we produced for them, and we’re excited to see the results from the first stage of our work with this up and coming brand.
